ABOUT TRADITIONAL RIGGING

Traditional Rigging  was set up by Dennis Platten, one of the UK's most experienced riggers. He began his rigging apprenticeship in 1966 in Hull and has gone on to have a broad career travelling all over the world.

When Dennis set up Traditional Rigging he established himself as a specialist in working boats, classic yachts and traditional rigs. The business has been based in Underfall Yard in Bristol since the early 1990s where Dennis also worked as Harbour Master until recently.

In 2009 Dennis took on Jay Redman-Stainer for a 6 year apprenticeship. Jay is  the son of a traditional boat builder, who has grown up sailing gaff rigged working boats in Cornwall. Jay has since been made a partner in the business and has expanded the rigging services to include state the art materials and modern techniques.

Jay is a qualified IRATA  rope access technician which conforms to the latest working at height regulations.

Traditional Rigging are fully covered by Hayes Parsons for Public Liability Insurance.
